Software Process Improvement - Customer Successes

Ivar Jacobson International has had the privilege of working with some of the most prestigious companies in the world, and these success stories demonstrate the benefits of our approach to software process improvement. Below are just some of the highlights from our customer engagements - explore the links on the left for a more comprehensive view of our customer successes.

    HSBC

Ivar Jacobson International has been working with HSBC since 2009 to introduce a standard approach to use case driven requirements management. The work began with a thorough assessment of existing practices, which resulted in a number of recommendations including the need to define a standard approach for using use cases. The work has continued through 2011, with best practices for requirements management being rolled out in London, UK, and India.

    Bank of America

With the acquisition of Merrill-Lynch in 2009, Bank of America acquired an IT organization using a completely different software development lifecycle (SDLC) model.  In addition, Bank of America's own SDLC had become heavy with bureaucratic processes that inhibited development teams from being successful.  With the goal of defining a right-sized, effective and consistent SDLC, IJI consultants used the software development kernel to describe both SDLCs in such a way that the similarities and differences were immediately apparent.  The result was a streamlined, flexible and powerful approach to delivering valuable technology solutions for the bank.

“The measurement framework we’ve implemented together with IJI now provides us with better insights into areas that we need to improve on and enables us to track the effect of improvement initiatives on our performance. It’s great to see, for example, that since we started on the implementation of the IJI Iterative and Use Case Essentials practices we’ve made signicant progress in our time and budget predictability."

Inge Diepenhorst, Manager of the Software Development Centre, KPN

    Ford

In the new era of car-making, Ford Application Development knew that it needed a more agile approach to delivering value to the business in a better, faster and cheaper way.   IJI is leading a two-pronged approach to Ford's agile transformation: hands-on coaching of pilot teams, and the removal of barriers that would typically prevent follow-on teams from succeeding with agile.  Ford is part way through the journey and have already seen extremely positive results, including better collaboration between IT and business team members, increased focus on delivering solutions more quickly, and an emphasis on ensuring that technology solutions solve the right business problems and deliver value.
