Who is CyberIvar?

CyberIvar is what is sometimes known as a chatterbot, i.e., a software robot that can chat to you. CyberIvar should not be confused with me. Even if we are similar and both firendly, it doesn't mean that they completely agree on all subjects :-) Over time our intent is to teach CyberIvar more and more about software development in general and the Unified Modeling Language and software development practices in particular.

What can CyberIvar do for me?

CyberIvar has been trained to be able to answer questions about the UML and  WayPointer. CyberIvar can be seen as an entertaining and engaging way to present information that otherwise would have been presented in a more traditional document style. Also, it is a covenient way to make a large body of information easily accessible as the chat-interface allows you to start chatting about something specific without having to navigate a deep document or menu structure.


Is CyberIvar an agent?

That depends pretty much, on whom you ask. Some people will claim that chatterbots are one category of intelligent agents. Others will claim that a chatterbot does not have all the characteristics of an intelligent agent.

How is CyberIvar related to WayPointer?

CyberIvar and WayPointer are not integrated in any way today. This might change in the future. Meanwhile you can see WayPointer and CyberIvar as complements to each other that in different ways support you to develop software with the UML and modern software development practices. While WayPointer is a commercial product, CyberIvar is today offered to each and everyone as a free service.

How does it work?

CyberIvar is based on the Alicebot and AIML software from  the A.L.I.C.E. AI Foundation. We developed an extensive set of AIML content covering the UML and WayPointer. For more information about Alicebot and AIML, please see http://www.alicebot.org/.
