David J. West, Managing Director Americas

David has worked in the software development industry for over 15 years holding a variety of posts ranging from developer, team leader and architect. He managed the development of the Rational Unified Process for two years releasing four new versions of the product which including the re-architecting to conform to SPEMM, inclusion of CMMI and Agile content and a revised business modeling discipline.  He has also recently co-authored Head First Object Oriented Analysis and Deisgn in the O'Reilly Head First collection.

Prior to that role David worked, in the UK as a consultant in many organizations introducing process and tools. Customers included, Barclays, Merrill Lynch, American Express and the Royal Bank of Scotland. After running the RUP team David took over responsibility of the solutions group at IBM Rational developing content, process and tool solutions in the area of enterprise architecture, CMMI, compliance, and geographically distributed development and outsourcing. This work took David into the area of industry solutions with his final role at IBM Rational as the executive responsible for the Financial Services Sector where he worked with large Finance customers such as Citicorp, ABN Amro, Fortis, Rabo Bank, LTSB and Credit Suisse.

Kurt Bittner, CTO Americas

Kurt has worked in the software industry for over 25 years in a variety of roles including developer, team leader, architect, project manager, and business leader. He has led agile projects, run a large division of a software development company, survived and thrived in several start-ups, run an acquisition, and worked with clients in a variety of industries including aerospace, finance, energy, and electronics. He was a key contributor to the early development of the Rational Unified Process as well as, more recently, IBM's Jazz project (see www.jazz.net). His experience includes significant work in Banking and Finance, relational database system design and architecting, and consulting and mentoring a wide variety of clients on software development improvement strategies and approaches.

He is the co-author, with Ian Spence (Ivar Jacobson Consulting's Chief Scientist), of two books:

Use-Case Modeling (2002) and Managing Iterative Software Development Projects (2006), as well as many articles, especially in the areas of improving requirements and software development management practices. He has particular interest in assisting organizations and development teams to be more effective in their software practices while not losing sight that developing software should be a fun though highly challenging activity.


Eric J. Naiburg, Vice President Sales and Marketing Americas

Eric has worked in the software development industry for over 15 years with several roles ranging from sales and marketing to product management. Prior to joining IJC, he was worldwide director of product marketing for Cast Software where he was responsible for all aspects of product marketing.

Prior to joining Cast, he was program director for business, industry and technical solutions in IBM Rational Software. He has held other roles including group market manager of desktop product responsible for Rational’s desktop products including Requirements, Analysis, Design, Construction and Software Quality solutions. Eric also held the role of manager of product management, focusing on the IBM Rational Rose and IBM Rational XDE product lines. Eric also spent several years with Logic Works Inc., which is now a part of CA where he held various roles including product manager, sales manager and system engineer for the market leading data modeling tools ERwin and ModelMart.

Eric has co-authored UML for Mere Mortals and UML for Database Design both published by Addison Wesley.

Bernie F. Clark, Vice President Western Region Service Delivery

Bernie began his IT career in 1980 as a mainframe programmer in the UK, specializing in PL/I, CICS and ADABAS/NATURAL.  From 1983 to 1995 he worked in diverse financial and health consulting assignments for Fortune 500 companies in New York, San Francisco and Hawaii. His principal clients were Citibank, CBS, New York City Board of Education, Prudential Insurance and NatWest Bank. In 1996 he became interested in the Rational Objectory Process and the emerging Unified Modeling Language and established himself as one of the first use-case mentors within Charles Schwab.

Bernie established Communities of Practice related to Unified Process, Use Cases, and Knowledge Management, the latter of which provided a springboard for him to co-found Pure Knowledge LLC in 1999, a thought leader at the time, in the knowledge management arena.  Currently, Bernie provides leadership, mentoring and training services for Ivar Jacobson Consulting along with developing new business. He designs and teaches Business Modeling, Use Case and Architecture training classes and provides guidance on process improvement. He is also the founder and co-coordinator of the Bay Area Rational User Group.  Bernie is also co-inventor of a patented Centralized Diagnostic Logging Service - Pat No: US 6,591,228 BI.

Robert Maksimchuk, Vice President Eastern Region Service Delivery

Bob brings an abundance of systems engineering and integration, modeling, and object-oriented analysis and design expertise to this mission. He has co-authored the books Object-Oriented Analysis and Design with Applications (Third Edition), UML for Mere Mortals, UML for Database Design, and also has written various articles. 
 
Prior to joining Ivar Jacobson Consulting, as Director of Research at Unisys, Bob focused on identifying emerging modeling technologies and assessing their potential to address business and systems development issues faced by clients. He provided leadership in introducing such synergistic technologies to advance the strategic direction of the Unisys 3D-Visible Enterprise service delivery framework.
 Prior to Unisys, he was a UML thought leader at IBM Rational. He served in various strategic roles at IBM Rational such as Market Manager for Architecture and Design, Rational Rose Product Manager, and Senior UML Evangelist, where he traveled worldwide as a featured speaker in numerous technology forums and led workshops and seminars on UML and object-oriented (OO) development. 
 
Earlier, Bob held various positions of increasing responsibility at GE / Lockheed Martin. He began as a Senior Programmer Analyst developing large, mission critical, real-time command and control software systems. Subsequently, he advanced to Senior Systems Engineer / Project Manager on very large systems integration projects. Bob then specialized in object technology and served as a Senior Object-Oriented Technology Engineer, where he consulted and mentored externally and internally across the company.
 
Bob has also worked in the financial industry as a Systems Architect where he provided system architecture, UML, and OO expertise and mentoring to numerous development projects. In the industrial process control industry, he developed real-time industrial control software. He began his career at GE Aerospace as an electrical engineer designing satellite power control systems hardware, during which time he introduced hardware modeling and simulation techniques.
 
Bob is a member of IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) and INCOSE (International Council on Systems Engineering).
