Paper - Use Case Modularity
A paper on extensions and extension points from 1979.
This report provides a summary of a design methodology that makes use case modularity possible in its proper sense. Use cases can be introduced without affecting existing use cases, neither their documentation nor existing exchanges in operation. The technology used to accomplish this is surprisingly simple in principle: Editing in runtime. It requires, though, new constructs in both the system design language and in the programming language. Moreover, to comply with reasonable efficiency requirements, the target machine system must be further developed with something that resembles an extra reference memory.
