Agile Project Management Practitioner

This is an accredited course launched in 2011 by APMG and the DSDM Consortium (now known as the Agile Business Consortium) to address the need to run projects in an agile way. The course is equally divided between the theory behind agile project management and interactive practical experiences of the techniques and disciplines involved with working this way. The course contains two exams that enable delegates to become certified in Agile Project Management (AgilePM) at Foundation and Practitioner level.

Training info

Course overview

The course will give delegates a practical understanding of how to use agile behaviours and techniques at scale. Agile has grown rapidly in recent years and is now ‘mainstream’ but a lot of the success of agile is with small, co-located teams.

This course shows you how to be agile at a larger scale by wrapping agile project management disciplines around the delivery aspects of agile. This allows you to ‘be agile’ in more complex environments where stricter governance or compliance is needed such as it is with most large organisations today.

By becoming certified, this course will help you to stay current within your own organisation and in today’s fast moving marketplace.

Other course info

The AgilePM Practitioner course is aimed at project managers. You may be adding to your knowledge of traditional project management approaches or you may be operating in an agile environment and need to be able to run projects in more complex and scalable situations.

What you receive
  • Handbook

Our advice is that pre-course reading is beneficial but not essential. Delegates can either have their handbook posted to them in advance or they can collect it on the first day of the course. Delegates receive their handbooks approximately 2 to 3 weeks before the course starts but you can request for this to be sent earlier if you would like to make a head start on your reading. If you are intending to do some pre-course reading we recommend about 3-5 hours.

Exam details

The AgilePM Foundation exam is a 40-minute, multiple choice exam with 50 questions. The AgilePM Practitioner exam lasts 2½ hours and is in the objective testing style (complex multiple choice). You are allowed to use your AgilePM Handbook during the Practitioner exam. The pass mark for each exam is 50%.

Cancellation details

If a delegate cancels their booking the following charges will apply:

  • More than 28 days prior to start date = no charge
  • 14-28 days prior to start date = 50% of total course fee
  • Less than 14 days prior to start date = 100% of total course fee.

Please note that in the event of non-attendance by the delegate, the full course fee will be charged.

IJI and its training partners reserve the right to modify course content, to alter or cancel course dates and to change the training venue (to a similar venue within a reasonable/local distance). We also reserve the right to refuse admission if payment has not been received. A decision will be made as to whether a course will run at least two weeks before the course commencement date. Delegates are advised that travel and accommodation should not be booked until 2 weeks before the course commences.
