Agile Project Management Foundation

This is an accredited course launched in 2011 by APMG and the DSDM Consortium (now known as the Agile Business Consortium) to address the need to run projects in an agile way. The course is equally divided between the theory behind agile project management and interactive practical experiences of the techniques and disciplines involved with working this way. The course contains one exam that enables delegates to become certified in Agile Project Management (AgilePM) at Foundation level.

Course overview

The course will give delegates a practical understanding of how to use agile behaviours and techniques at scale. Agile has grown rapidly in recent years and is now ‘mainstream’ but a lot of the success of agile is with small, co-located teams.

This course shows you how to be agile at a larger scale by wrapping agile project management disciplines around the delivery aspects of agile. This allows you to ‘be agile’ in more complex environments where stricter governance or compliance is needed such as it is with most large organisations today.

By becoming certified, this course will help you to stay current within your own organisation and in today’s fast moving marketplace.

Other course info

The AgilePM Foundation course is aimed at project managers. They may be adding to their knowledge of traditional project management approaches or they may be operating in an agile environment and need to be able to run projects in more complex and scalable situations.

What you receive
  • Handbook
  • Accreditation after succesful completion of exam

Our advice is that pre-course reading is beneficial but not essential. Delegates can either have their handbook posted to them in advance or they can collect it on the first day of the course. Delegates receive their handbooks approximately 2 to 3 weeks before the course starts but you can request for this to be sent earlier if you would like to make a head start on your reading. If you are intending to do some pre-course reading we recommend about 3-5 hours.
