Richard is a certified SAFe Program Consultant (SPC) and Scrum at Scale Practitioner, with over 25 years of experience leading software development and delivery organisations across multiple industry sectors. Coming from a hands-on development and architecture background, Richard held the position of Director of Development for a leading academic publishing company before joining IJI. He is particularly creative in experimenting with new practices to drive organizational effectiveness and has been leading agile adoption in large and complex businesses for more than half of his career.
“Richard supported our SAFe Adoption and initial ART Launch for what was a significant ART of 11 Teams in 3 locations. As the company’s RTE, Richard’s patient style and considered input were extremely helpful to both me personally and the success of the first PI that I led. Richard is deeply knowledgeable not only regarding SAFe, but also other methods/ideas and general Lean/Agile guidance. His experience is extensive and his use of anecdotal evidence in his coaching is tremendously helpful. I would not hesitate to recommend Richard or to work with him again if the opportunity arose.”
“Richard’s contribution to the scaling of our Agile capability was excellent. His subject matter expertise of SAFe coupled with his authenticity and strong consulting skillset meant the team readily and positively engaged with him and he built trust and relationships easily. As a consequence we achieved a huge amount in a very short period of time. I would recommend Richard and certainly engage him again.”
“Richard is the type of consultant you really want on a scaled-agile journey. Knowledgable, pragmatic, he is a great relator and coach to “to-be” lean-agile leaders as well as to the practitioners. He was a great asset during the 7 months of our cooperation, and I would be very much looking forward to cooperating again in the future.”
I enjoyed the classes with Richard Cook and Keith Mendonca and found that they did a really great job with the course. I attended SAFe training and did my SAFe 4.0 certification back in South Africa in 2018 and I was actually dreading the training now again and even wondered what I could still learn but I was pleasantly surprised. Richard and Keith were able to give actual work insight and experience to the content that they were teaching. The pace of the course was good, the way the presentation was done was engaging and overall I really did enjoy the three days learning with them.Charlotte Lubbe
